IT Development Team Lead

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Join our dynamic Software Development function at Addleshaw Goddard! We're divided into specialised squads, each with around 5 developers, working in sync to create cutting-edge solutions. As a Team Lead, you'll be the driving force behind one of these squads, reporting directly to the IT Development Manager.

Your role? To ensure your squad excels, delivering top-notch technical work in line with AG's best practices, policies, and processes. You'll be a mentor, a stakeholder manager, and a full-stack software development specialist, guiding your team towards success.

You'll be a key player, working hand-in-hand with the IT Management Team and Business Analysts to understand AG and our clients' needs. Your mission will be to help develop and communicate innovative, high-quality bespoke software solutions, automations, and integrations, all while improving the practice of software development within AG.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical leadership on projects including:
    • Understand the business requirements and propose creative and innovative solutions.
    • Communicating complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, at an appropriate level of detail.
  • Team leader and line management responsibilities for the assigned squad.
  • Project leadership
    • Organise and host planning sessions to produce technical specifications, sizing, and task breakdown.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

The ideal applicant will have the confidence to work in a fast-paced and intellectually demanding environment, and with internal clients who are dedicated, hard-working professionals.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Experience leading software development teams.
  • Knowledge of AI technology including Generative AI and Machine Learning.
  • Proficient in cloud computing technologies such as Microsoft Azure.
  • Advanced knowledge of C# and dotnet.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • JavaScript and related client-side frameworks (e.g. VueJS)
    • Web development technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JSON.
    • Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL programming and Relational Database design
    • UX based design
    • Building and consuming API's (e.g. RESTful / SOAP)
    • DevOps Release and Deployment (CI/CD)
  • Software Development Lifecycle toolsets (e.g. Azure DevOps/JIRA).
  • Methodologies (e.g. Agile/SCRUM) and associated techniques / practices.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
