Corporate/M&A Associate (1-2 PQE)

The core strengths on which the office is founded are financial restructuring, corporate transactions (including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity), complex finance, energy, debt and equity capital markets, securities, financial services regulatory, disputes, investment funds (hedge, private equity, real estate and infrastructure), EU competition and international trade and tax. The integrated nature of our practices mean that the lawyers based in London work closely on a regular basis with their counterparts in the firm’s other international practices as well as those in the firm’s US offices.

We are seeking an England & Wales qualified Corporate/M&A associate with a minimum of 1.5 year and maximum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience for our London Corporate team. Prior experience of high value M&A transactions both private and public required.  Superior communication skills and excellent academic credentials are essential.  Prior exposure to commercially-minded financial institution clients such as investment banks, hedge funds, institutional lenders and other sophisticated investors is highly desirable.

Our London Corporate team is led by Sebastian Rice alongside partners Vance Chapman, Sophie Jermine, Harry Keegan, Shaun Lascelles, Weyinmi Popo, Simon Rootsey, David Sewell & Gavin Weir, and includes 1 senior counsel, 7 counsels, 11 associates, 1 paralegal and 2 trainees.

Akin Gump’s London corporate team principally advises on high-end corporate work, including public/private mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and takeovers, debt for equity swaps, schemes of arrangement and strategic corporate advice. We also represent numerous multibillion-dollar investment funds on special situation investments, distressed investing (and subsequent exits), merger arbitrage and activist situations, and equity restructurings, as well as domestic and cross-border regulatory and policy issues.
